811 Wilshire
Los Angeles, California
Project Size: 320,000 sf, office renovation
Construction Cost: $12,000,000
Built in 1960, this 20-story office tower at the
northwest corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Flower Street was once the
tallest in Los Angeles. Formerly 615 South Flower, the entrance and lobby
were relocated to improve functionality and to attain an internationally
recognized address on Wilshire Boulevard. Applying silver aluminum panels
directly to the existing facade minimized disruption to office tenants
during construction. Satin-finish stainless steel "pleats" accent
the tower corners and spandrel panels. New silver reflective windows complement
the pleats and allow sunlight to reflect onto the polished granite with
marble accents. Aluminum and stainless steel wall sconces link the metal
tower to the stone base. The new lobby has a honed granite floor, polished
marble security console and stainless steel columns.
